Around March I'd finally finished a project I'd been working on for about 4 months. Not consecutively, but collectively. I might not had made it out if I'd worked nonstop on this, but I'm super excited about it because the end product is so much better then I anticipated.
I wanted to create a deck of cards based on the world from Avatar: the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra. I replaced the original suits with the 4 elements (earth, fire, air, water), and separated 54 different characters into their respective elements, both benders and non-benders. So it's a deck of 54 different pieces of art, there's no repetition.
It was an endeavor to say the least. But both series' are so magnificent and beautifully done, the animation is magnetic and the characters are endearing and flawed and varied. I wanted to pay homage to something that captivated people on every continent.
